He earned his B. Sc. (Honors) and M. Sc. Degrees in Physics from the University of Delhi with high first division in both; and M. S., and Ph. D. degrees in Theoretical High Energy Physics from the University of Hawaii (USA) in a record time of less than three years, while on a prestigious East-West Center Scholarship offered by the U.S. Government.
He has published over 71 research papers in reputed International Journals of Physics, besides a large number of popular articles especially for inspiring the young minds to pursue a career in Science. He has successfully guided many Ph.D. students at the University of Delhi. He has also been an examiner for more than a dozen Ph.D. students, and has served as referee for research papers for many International Journals for Physics. His contribution to the dissemination of research ideas is reflected in the large number (47) National and International conferences where he made oral presentations and chaired several academic sessions.
He co-authored a post graduate text book, “Advanced Methods of Mathematical Physics”, simultaneously published by Narosa (India), Alpha Science International (U.K.), and CRC Press (USA), which has been prescribed as a text book for M.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. Mathematics courses in various universities in India and Abroad. The book carries excellent reviews by Prof. G.’tHooft (Nobel Laureate) and Prof. J. D. Bjorken (Stanford University). The book is running into second edition.
He has been a Visiting Professor at many leading International Institutions and Universities such as Max Planck Institute for Mathematics and Science (Leipzig, Germany), University of Kaiserslautern (Germany), Louisiana Tech University (USA), Fermi Lab (USA), and ICTP (Italy), among others, and delivered several invited talks in Physics and Mathematics.
He has been a member of several renowned professional bodies in India and Abroad such as Indian Physics Association (Joint Secretary), American Physical Society, Fulbright Alumni Association, East West Center Alumni Association, Indian Association for Gravitation and Cosmology, and Indian Chapter of ICTP.
To his credit, he has 42 years experience of teaching a variety of courses in physics and mathematics to the under-graduate and post graduate classes in the University of Delhi and abroad. Besides, he has taught and is continuing to teach a number of courses in Forensic Physics, including ballistics, X-ray spectroscopy, spectrophotometer, radiochemical techniques, NMR, and relevant topics in Statistical Analysis pertaining to crime investigations to the M.Sc. and Advanced Postgraduate Diploma students of Forensic Science for the past 4 years at the Premier Forensic Science Institute, New Delhi (since its inception in 2010).
